Responsibilities & Requirements
The Sleep Lab Supervisor is a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) who supervises sleep center operations and staff, working closely with the Network Sleep Services Manager to maintain unified staffing levels, common procedures, and similar working conditions. The Supervisor maintains accreditation readiness, collects data for quality assurance reporting, assists with process improvement implementation, and coordinates patient care. The Supervisor runs and scores sleep studies. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
Completion of high school or equivalent and associate’s degree required. In lieu of associate's degree 10 years' experience as a registered sleep technologist is required.
Minimum Work Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.
- Minimum 1 year of sleep study scoring experience.
- 1 year experience as a lead tech, team lead, or other supervisory experience preferred.

Other
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) required.
- BLS required although it may be attained after hire.
Required Skills
Ability to make independent clinical judgments
Understand standard sleep laboratory and clinic procedures
Very good computer skills – Microsoft Office products and sleep acquisition systems
Proficient in the use and theory of sleep testing equipment including troubleshooting
Personable and able to work well with patients, staff, leadership, and providers
Knowledge of sleep durable medical equipment
Knowledge of sleep disorders and treatments
Essential Functions
- Follow and enforce Network and departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure staffing is sufficient for the volume and is within productivity standards.
- Collect data for quality assurance reporting and implement process improvement projects.
- Assist the Network Sleep Services Manager with employee recruitment, orientation, training, evaluation, retention, disciplinary, and termination activities.
- Assess sleep testing equipment, troubleshoot when necessary, and order equipment/supplies as needed.
- Ensure proper billing and reimbursement through charge review, correction, and reconciliation.
- Coordinate all aspects of patient care, including special preparations for challenging or unique studies, obtaining medication prior authorizations, and obtaining sleep study pre-certifications. Interact with physicians to coordinate patient care.
- Communicate with patients concerning their experience; discussion of issues with patients and staff; escalate issues to management when appropriate.
- Perform and score polysomnograms, PAP titrations including ASV and AVAPs titrations, MSLTs, MWTs, and HSTs. Coordinate with physicians regarding results and follow up.
