Responsibilities & Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (NLN or CCNE)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred (must be completed within 5 years of hire) If hired after June of 2010 at KMCS, all other KHN facilities after Jan 2011.
A nurse who is returning to the acute care setting after five or more years may be required to provide evidence of successful completion of a refresher course

Licensed in the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse
BLS certification
ACLS, NRP, PALS as determined by unit scope of practice

Essential Functions
☐ Responsive to coaching to correct risky behaviors and applies learning to next situation
☐ Demonstrates nursing clinical skills necessary to make pertinent and accurate assessments of the physical, psychological, spiritual and educational needs of the patient
☐ Analyses collected data to establish and prioritize a list of actual and potential individualized age specific patient problems and/or needs
☐ Develops a plan of care based on patient assessment, diagnosis and co-morbidities
☐ Implements the plan of care and executes interventions provide safe quality care based on assessed needs, established standards of care.
☐ Evaluates and modifies the care plan based on patient response
☐ Appropriate delegation based on the patient’s care plan and skill level of the personnel.
☐ Timely documents in the electronic medical record or the appropriate venue. Documentation reflects nursing care, patient response and associated pertinent information related to the care of the patient.
☐ Demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
☐ Identifies and responds appropriately to emergency situations
☐ Verifies current patient medications and completes reconciliation documentation.
☐ Safely administers medications utilizing the “five rights”.
☐ Consistently informs patients when new medications are ordered, informs patients of the implications and possible side effects of these medications*
☐ Aware of population specific quality indicators; practice reflects actions that support core measures.
☐ Behavioral choices align with safe practice standards
