Responsibilities & Requirements
JOB SUMMARY
The MFM Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologist II will be capable of applying imaging to include proper machine
settings, transducer selections and additional imaging. The Ultrasound Technologist II will be expected to perform high risk obstetrical ultrasounds as well as specialized exams (Nuchal Translucency, doppler studies, amniocentesis guidance, etc.). In addition, being knowledgeable of techniques and patient positioning to produce high quality ultrasound images. Individuals in this position will work closely with Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists but must be able to exercise initiative and independent judgment. The Ultrasound Technologist II must be willing to participate in continuing education programs to further upgrade his/her skills, as well as meet the guidelines of the accreditation standards of the department. The Ultrasound Technologist II will gather additional information related to patient history & analyze and summarize their image findings for the physician.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Completion of an approved program in Diagnostic Ultrasound &/or Associates of Science degree in Diagnostic Ultrasound.
Required Licenses
Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
Registered by The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or board eligible.
Must have Nuchal Translucency certification within 12 months of start date.
Required Skills
The Ultrasound Technologist II will need a sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology and be very detail
oriented. Must have above average knowledge of human anatomy and spatial relationships of body organs
and structures.
The Ultrasound Technologist II will need to be comfortable working in close proximity with physicians/residents/peers.
The Ultrasound sonographer will need excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
MFM experience preferred but not required.
Current Basic Life Support certification
